After what seems to be almost an interminably long time, Boston’s, Cave In is gearing up to follow the release of last year’s 4 song ep, ‘Planets of Old’ (Hydra Head) with a new full length album. It was recorded over an 8 month period by the band themselves in their practice space, which the four svelte lads that comprise, Cave In, lovingly refer to as, “Club Awesome,” as well as in their various lofts and apartments. The result: a psychedelic metal masterpiece. Adam Taylor is at the controls putting the shine on ‘er, with all members in attendance seeing this baby through to the finish.
In other Club Awesome via Camp Street related news, fellow residents of the Club, the brand new duo known as J / Q (members of Clouds) have introduced themselves via a Cassingle (?!) release called, “Stylin”. Huh. You can also acquire more relevant media versions of the 2 tracks on the cassingle, which was recorded partially by Johnny Northrup at Club Awesome and even more so by Alex Hartman here at Camp Street. Check it out right here:
Winding down the summer with the Bynars
8/20/2010
Long time no speak. We’ve been busy with MBR tape transfers and Treat Her Right and Del Marquis (of the Scissor Sisters) and even squeezing in a bit of vacation here and there. Currently, we are enjoying the sounds of the Bynars. This locally grown crop of unassuming young gentlemen are churning out a nice batch of extremely infectious alterna-pop. Alterna-pop? Sure…that works. If you like really well written, highly memorable, structured yet quirky songs go here: http://thebynars.com/

The Molenes; Camp Street in Vintage Guitar Magazine
7/27/2010
Coastal New Hampshire’s rising stars of salty alt-country twang the Molenes are in for round two of mixing. Singer/Guitarist Dave Hunter, Paul Q. K. and Adam Taylor are polishing up a batch of tunes for the Molene’s third full length album. According to www.themolenes.com this album is due out in Autumn ‘10.
Dave Hunter also happens to write for Vintage Guitar Magazine. Checking in at 14 x 10.5 inches, VG may be one of the last full-size color print rags left in the world. (Trees may rejoice, but I really miss poring over mags like this.) The meeting of two such discerning tone-sters as Dave and Paul was splendidly serendipitous. Dave’s first introduction to Camp Street a few months ago yielded the following review of one of several rare amplifier’s in the Camp Street collection, a vintage Sonola 98-RT combo amp:
The Bodega Girls have a new cut available free of charge via www.rcrdlbl.com. ‘We Are Losers’ was built, tracked, mixed and remixed by Adam Taylor here at Camp Street. Get up for the download here: http://rcrdlbl.com/artists/Bodega_Girls/track/We_Are_Losers. Catch the party this Saturday, June 19th when the Bodega Girls play the Middle East Downstairs with Kid Sister.

The Upper Crust Stand Corrected on the Subject of Standing Corrected
6/14/2010
The Upper Crust have requested that we make available to you the corrected version of their song, “I Stand Corrected.” Rather than risk the request for further corrections (to this post), we’ll let a representative for the Crust step in and offer an explanation for this redux:
“Aficionados of the music of the Upper Crust will be familiar with their ethereal release Revenge For Imagined Slights, recorded a year ago at Camp Street Studios.
Those who have listened to it closely may also have noticed it’s single small but significant flaw, namely, that the song “I Stand Corrected” had four verses where there ought to have been but three.
This error can be ascribed to the song having been recorded the morning after it was written. My Lords have since had a chance to habituate themselves to the composition and the error has been duly rectified.
Yours Truly,
Bumbles
Secretary and Manservant to Their Lordships the Upper Crust”

Mellow Bravo Tracking; Buffalo Tom Mixing
6/8/2010
Hard charging local sextet, Mellow Bravo were in over the weekend with John Northrup and Alex Hartman to record 3 tracks that will appear on their debut full length due out this Fall. Catch the Bravo’s at the Rosebud in Davis Square with Cocked and Loaded on Friday, June 25th…should be quite a party. It always is with these guys/girl. The band claims it will be their last show until their CD release show in September. After completely blitzing the Boston club circuit since their inception one year ago these guys deserve a bit of a break from the live scene while they bunker down in the studio for the summer.
Buffalo Tom are in today working on a mix with Paul Kolderie and Adam Taylor….can’t wait for this album to drop!!!!! In the mean time, you can catch Buffalo Tom live at the Paradise, June 11th 2010….go to www.buffalotom.com for further details.

Treat Her Right
5/26/2010
After absolutely tearing up the Mark Sandman Memorial Concert last September (see below) and subsequent shows around town, Treat Her Right are in the studio working on a slew of new tracks. The 2010 version of the band includes founding members, Dave Champagne (guitar, vocals), Jim Fitting (harmonica, vocals) as well as Billy Beard (cocktail drums) and Steve Mayone on (’low guitar’). Paul Kolderie and Adam Taylor are on the job and the boys are ripping it up.
